Market Update: Mexico Cross-Border

Rates, capacity, and regional supply conditions across USA–Mexico corridors
September 2026

Where carriers were bidding on Mexico freight in September

1
Northbound rates rose 3¢ to $3.65 a mile as diesel jumped 83¢ to $6.29 a gallon. Without fuel, they fell 11¢ to $2.81.
2
Capacity tightened in September: northbound dry van capacity ran about 16% below its 2025 average, southbound about 7% below.
3
Northbound, Reynosa and Monterrey have lots of trucks: price those lanes at the market mid. Loads out of Mexico City, Toluca, Guadalajara and Puebla need lead time: post them as soon as they're tendered and price near the high.
4
624,456 trucks crossed north from Mexico in August, down 0.9% from a year ago, about 4 in 10 through Laredo.
