Power-only freight for Mexico and Canada

Your trailer, their tractor and driver. Pick Power Only on the Cargado posting form, choose the move type, and carriers who run power only bid on it. Use it for drop-and-hook freight, surge capacity, a private fleet's trailers, or an empty trailer that needs to get somewhere.

Three kinds of power-only move

Pick Power Only under Mode, then the Power Only Type. The type tells carriers what they are hooking up to.

  • Drop-and-hook

    Pre-loaded

The trailer is already loaded. The carrier hooks it at the first stop and drops it at the last.

On the posting: Load Details stay, so carriers see the weight and commodity. The stops read Pickup Preloaded Trailer, then Drop Trailer.

  • Empty, can carry a load on the way

    Load-out

The carrier picks up an empty trailer, can use it to haul a different load on the way, and drops it at the destination.

On the posting: no Load Details. The stops read Pickup Empty Trailer, then Drop Trailer.

  • Empty, straight there

    Tow-away

The carrier picks up an empty trailer and takes it straight to the destination. Nothing is loaded on the way.

On the posting: no Load Details. The stops read Pickup Empty Trailer, then Drop Trailer.

Load-out and Tow-away both start with an empty trailer. The difference: a Load-out trailer can carry a load on the way, and a Tow-away trailer can't. Every type takes one trailer type, and the first and last stops are drop stops.

A loaded trailer waiting at the dock

Your shipper loads its own trailers and needs a tractor and driver to pull one across. Post it as Pre-loaded power only, and the carrier you book hooks the trailer at the first stop (Pickup Preloaded Trailer) and drops it at the last (Drop Trailer).

1

Pick Power Only, then Pre-loaded

Power Only is the third choice under Mode. The Power Only Type comes next.

2

Pick the one trailer type

Power Only takes one trailer type: the trailer the carrier will pull.

3

Drop stops at each end

The first and last stops are drop stops. Any stops in between are live.

Power only posts as a Load, a Lane, or a Potential Load or Lane, like full truckload freight. A posting can't be both power only and a partial. Cargado Market Rates price full truckload freight only, so power-only moves get their price from the carrier bids.

Carriers who run power only

Carriers mark Power Only among the specialized load types on their Cargado profile and can filter Find Freight to power-only postings. The bid itself works like any other posting, and the posting shows the type, for example Power Only (Load-out).

Questions about power only

What is a power-only load?

In a power-only move, the carrier brings the tractor and driver and pulls a trailer that is yours or your shipper's. On Cargado you pick Power Only under Mode on the standard posting form.

What power-only move types can I post?

Three. Pre-loaded: the trailer is already loaded; the carrier hooks it at the first stop and drops it at the last. Load-out: the carrier picks up an empty trailer, can use it to haul a different load on the way, and drops it at the destination. Tow-away: the carrier picks up an empty trailer and takes it straight to the destination, with nothing loaded on the way.

What is the difference between load-out and tow-away?

Both start with an empty trailer and end with the carrier dropping it at the destination. On a Load-out, the carrier can use the trailer to haul a different load on the way. On a Tow-away, nothing is loaded; the trailer goes straight there. Neither posting has Load Details.

Does the carrier bid differently on power only?

No. The bid works like any other posting: a price for each part of a cross-border move, or one all-in rate inside one country.

How are stops set on a power-only posting?

Power-only freight must start and end with drop stops. Any stops in between are live.

Can I select more than one trailer type for power only?

No. Power Only takes one trailer type. If you switch a posting to Power Only, only the first trailer type you had selected is kept.

How do carriers find power-only freight?

Carriers mark Power Only among the specialized load types on their Cargado profile and can filter Find Freight to power-only postings.

Do Cargado Market Rates price power-only moves?

No. Market Rates price full truckload freight. A power-only move gets its price from the bids carriers place when you post it.
