Mexico and Canada trucking for freight forwarders, from the crossing to the door

Post the truck leg of an air or ocean move once, with the crossing, the equipment and the certifications it needs. Carriers whose equipment, service area and border requirements match are notified and bid inside Cargado. The number you quote can start from rates built on real carrier bids, and your TMS stays the system of record.

Post the truck leg with its crossing requirements

For the truck leg of an air or ocean move, post the lane, equipment and crossing once. Cargado notifies the carriers whose profile matches, including open-deck carriers for freight too big for a van.

Door-to-door or transload

Say how the freight crosses. Carriers see whether the move runs door-to-door or through a transload before they bid, so the bids you get fit the plan you already have.

Crossing, equipment and certifications

Add the border crossing, the trailer type and certifications such as CTPAT and OEA for Mexico, or FAST, PIP and bonded status for Canada. Cargado matches the posting to carriers whose profile lists that crossing and that equipment.

Open deck for crates a van cannot take

Flatbed, step deck, double drop, RGN and Conestoga carriers are on the marketplace for the air freight that arrives in crates too big for a van trailer and needs tarping or a Conestoga.

Cargado Market Rates

A carrier-cost benchmark for the quote

Pull low, mid and high rate bands (P25, P50 and P75) for the lane, built from real carrier bids in the marketplace and refreshed every week, with 12 weeks of history and a confidence score. The bands are carrier cost to the truck, so add your margin. Rates come back in U.S. dollars, pesos or Canadian dollars.

  • Quote a single truck leg in the app, on desktop or mobile.
  • Price a full lane list in Excel with the Cargado Excel Add-In when a customer sends an RFP.
  • Bring rates into your own quoting tools through the Market Rates API.
  • Coverage is deepest on U.S. and Mexico lanes. Canada data is thinner, and the lane says so. On a thin lane, post a Potential to get live carrier responses before you commit to a number.

A carrier network you can come back to

Cargado is built for repeat freight, not one-off transactions. Post a dedicated lane to lock in rates and capacity with preferred carriers, or a Potential to gauge real carrier rates and interest before the freight is awarded.

  • Carriers are notified by email and WhatsApp when a posting matches their profile, so the freight reaches them without a phone list.
  • Chat runs inside Cargado and translates between English, Spanish and French. Conversations stay on the platform after a shipment closes, so you can return to a carrier months later on different freight.
  • Every bid shows the carrier's DOT, MC or SCT number and where it stands with your company: Onboarded, Needs to onboard, or Do not dispatch if you have blocked it.

Every carrier is reviewed before it can bid

Every carrier applies, and Cargado's carrier team reviews the application before turning the account on. Until then, a carrier cannot see or bid on freight. What a carrier submits depends on where it is based.

  • United States: the carrier applies with its USDOT number, and our records must show active common or contract authority before the account is turned on.
  • Mexico: the carrier submits its RFC and constancia de situación fiscal, SICT operating permit, proof of address and ID for its legal representative. Companies add their acta constitutiva.
  • Canada: the carrier submits its provincial safety registration (CVOR, NIR or NSC), a safety fitness certificate, a certificate of incorporation and a certificate of insurance.
  • Every applicant gives three references from companies it has hauled for.
  • CTPAT and OEA certifications, bonded status, equipment and crossings sit on the carrier profile. Carriers state these themselves, so confirm them before you tender. Cargado's review does not replace your own carrier onboarding, and you can block a carrier on any load or lane you post.

One subscription, unlimited users

Forwarders, brokers and 3PLs pay a subscription based on how much Mexico and Canada freight they move, with no commission or percentage on loads and unlimited users on every plan. Market Rates is built in. Carriers use the marketplace at no cost, and the rate confirmation, onboarding and payment stay directly between you and the carrier.

Questions forwarders ask

Do you handle customs?
No. Cargado runs the marketplace and does not broker freight, own assets or process the payment between you and the carrier. You keep your customs broker and your crossing plan. On the posting you state the crossing and whether the move runs door-to-door or through a transload, so the bids come from carriers that run it that way.
Can we use Cargado for only the truck leg?
Yes. Post the truck leg as its own load or lane, with the pickup, the crossing and the equipment. Carriers bid on that leg. On a Mexico load, carriers price each part of it: the Mexico portion, the border crossing and the U.S. portion.
How are carriers vetted?
Cargado's carrier team reviews every application before turning the account on: USDOT and active authority in the United States, company documents and the SICT permit in Mexico, provincial safety registration and insurance in Canada, plus three references. Carriers state their own certifications, so confirm them before you tender. Cargado's review does not replace your onboarding.
Can we post a lane before the customer awards it?
Yes. Post it as a Potential. Carriers see it as potential freight and tell you what they would run it for, so you quote the customer from real carrier responses instead of a guess. When the award comes in, post the lane.
Which TMSs connect?
Tai, McLeod and Turvo connect directly today. Other systems connect through the Cargado API; ask us before you build. Loads sync in when you save them and your posting rules decide what carriers see. On McLeod, Tai and Turvo integrations, bids come back to the shipment in your TMS, and the booking goes back too. Your team keeps its own rate confirmation, and your TMS stays the system of record.
What does it cost, and who pays?
Forwarders, brokers and 3PLs pay a subscription based on how much Mexico and Canada freight they move, with unlimited users and no commission on loads. Smaller teams usually start in the four figures a year. Carriers use the marketplace at no cost. See the pricing page, or talk to us for a quote.
