What you need to sign up

Our team checks every carrier company before it can bid. What the sign-up asks for depends on where your company is based.

United States

Your USDOT number. We look it up in FMCSA as you type, and your carrier authority has to be active. Then confirm you represent the company with a one-time code we send to the contact FMCSA has on file. If your work email is that FMCSA email, you may skip the code. There are no documents to upload.

Mexico

Your legal business name and the RFC tied to your SICT permit. Then upload your Constancia de Situación Fiscal, acta constitutiva, SICT permit, a proof of address no older than three months and your legal representative's ID. A persona física skips the acta constitutiva.

Canada

Your CVOR number (Ontario), NIR number (Quebec) or NSC number (every other province). Then upload your safety fitness certificate, certificate of incorporation and certificate of insurance, plus your workers' compensation clearance if you have employees.

Mexican and Canadian carriers: once you submit, our team reviews your application and emails you an invitation when your company is set up.

How sign-up works

  1. Apply. Tell us about you and your company. U.S. carriers verify their USDOT number. Mexican and Canadian carriers upload their documents.
  2. Accept your invitation. Check your email. Set your password and turn on two-factor sign-in.
  3. Set up your profile and add three references. Add your equipment, the countries and routes you run and your border crossings. Then add three companies you have hauled for, such as logistics companies, forwarders or shippers, not other carriers.
  4. Get approved. Our team checks your company and your references. Once you're approved, you can see and bid on freight the next time you sign in. We don't send an approval email, so sign in to check.

You get paid by the logistics company, on its terms.

Cargado is a marketplace, not a broker. We don't pay for loads, we don't take a cut of them and we never hold your money. The logistics company that booked you pays you directly.

  1. Ask before you bid. Ask about payment terms in the load's chat.
  2. Get the rate confirmation. It covers the rate, the payment terms and the paperwork they need.
  3. Deliver and invoice. Send the proof of delivery and bill of lading they ask for, and invoice them the way their rate confirmation says.

Cargado doesn't offer quick pay or factoring. Ask the logistics company about theirs.

Questions carriers ask

What's the catch?

There isn't one. Cargado is at no cost for carriers: no subscription, no contract and no per-load fees, and you can add your whole dispatch team. Logistics companies pay to use Cargado, and more good carriers on it make it better for them.

Are the logistics companies on Cargado vetted?

Our team onboards every logistics company before it can post freight on Cargado. After a match, you still run your own checks and onboarding with them, the way you normally would.

Do I need a U.S. MC or DOT number to join?

Only U.S. carriers need one to join. U.S. carriers sign up with a USDOT number. Mexican carriers sign up with their RFC and SICT permit, and Canadian carriers with a CVOR, NIR or NSC number. To bid on a load that moves in the U.S., your profile needs a USDOT number, or a partner carrier with U.S. authority can bid for you. You add your MC number to your profile after you sign up.

Why can't I bid on some loads?

A load that moves only inside one country can only go to a carrier based in that country, and a load that touches the U.S. needs a USDOT number on your profile. A logistics company can also keep a posting from a carrier, for example the carrier already running that lane for it. Email carriers@cargado.com with a link to the posting and we'll tell you which rule applies.
