Your first week: five things brokers ask us
Five things brokers tell us on their first call after signing, and what is actually true.
These are the five things brokers tell us on their first call after signing, and what is actually true. Getting these right in week one saves the most time later.
1. “Cargado is a load board for Mexico.”
It is more than that, and it is not only spot freight.
Some freight on Cargado repeats on the same lanes, so not every posting is a one-off load. If your volume repeats, post a Lane. It stays live after a match, so one posting keeps working.
2. “Your vetting replaces ours.”
It does not, and it is not meant to.
Cargado vets every carrier before it can bid. Your onboarding still runs on every match, through your own link. Send your success manager that link, and every match tells the carrier to onboard with you first.
3. “No market rate means no carriers run that lane.”
No. It means too few recent bids on that lane to publish a band.
Post it. The bids that come back tell you where the lane prices, and they build the Market Rate for next time.
4. “Post it and wait for bids.”
Do not wait for bids.
Message three to five suggested carriers as soon as you post. The list comes from what carriers tell Cargado and do on it: trucks already posted for your dates, searches they have saved, service areas your lane sits inside. See Who are my suggested carriers, and how do I work the Coverage tab?
5. “Steady volume is just a lot of loads.”
Steady volume belongs in a Lane, not a stack of Loads.
A Load comes down when you accept a carrier. A Lane stays live, so you can book more than one carrier off the same posting.
Get those five right and the rest is tactics. The rest of the tactics are in Get started in nine minutes.
