Which identifier Cargado asks a carrier for, country by country, and what each error message means.
Cargado asks every carrier for the registration number its own country issues. Which one you enter depends on where you are based, and the form only asks for the ones that apply to you.
Your USDOT number, up to eight digits. We look it up against the FMCSA record as you type, so you will know straight away whether it matched.
Four things stop that lookup, and each means something different:
Your MC number is not asked for at signup. You add it to your company profile afterwards.
Your legal company name and your RFC. We check the shape of the RFC as you type, so a transposed digit is caught before you submit. The example on screen is XAXX010101000.
You also upload your SCT permit as a document during signup.
Canada issues three different numbers depending on the province, so the form asks you to pick one first:
You enter one of the three, not all of them. The field takes six to nine digits and formats them as 123-456-789 for you. If your profile says you have no NSC, CVOR or NIR on file, this is the field to fill in, and picking the wrong one of the three is the most common reason it will not save.
Email carriers@cargado.com with your company name and the number you are entering, and we will check the record from our side.
