Plan limits, and what the usage warning emails mean

What counts against your plan, what happens when you reach the limit, and who can lift it.

Two things count against a plan: postings and market rate lookups. Users do not. Every plan includes unlimited users, so there is never a reason to ration seats.

Seeing where you stand

Profile, then Billing shows what your plan includes. It does not yet show a running count of what you have used against it. If you want to know where you are mid-period, ask your success manager or email success@cargado.com and we will pull the numbers for you. We know that is not good enough and it is on the list to fix.

The warning emails

If your account is on self-serve pricing you get an email at 80 percent and again at 100 percent of an included amount, one per meter, reading "You have used 80% of your included postings for this period" or the same for rate lookups.

Accounts on a contract or enterprise agreement do not get these. If you are on one of those and you want a heads-up as you approach a limit, ask your success manager to set a reminder.

What happens at the limit

That depends on how your account is set up, and the email you receive will say which one applies to you:

  • Blocked. You cannot create more postings until the period resets.
  • On-demand pricing. You keep going and the extra is charged as you use it.
  • Automatic upgrade. You move to the next tier.

When a limit is reached you get a dialog telling you the date the limits reset. If on-demand usage is available on your account, a billing admin can switch it on from there. Anyone else on the team gets a Request on-demand button instead, which emails your own billing admins. It does not come to Cargado, so if nobody at your company acts on it, nothing happens.

If you are hitting limits every month

That is usually a sign the plan is the wrong size rather than a sign you are using the product wrong. Tell your success manager how much you expect to post and let them reprice it.
