How do I read the load board?

What the Load board shows, what each part of a row means, and how a Load, a Lane and a Potential posting differ.

The Load board lists postings that fit your company profile and your personal freight preferences. Each row is one posting.

What the Load board shows

Open Find Freight and choose Load board. The board starts from your preferences, which come from the trailers, service areas and border crossings in your profile. You confirm them on your first visit and can change them with the sliders icon next to the search bar.

Cargado Load board with the blue Find Freight sidebar open and “Load board” selected, the search bar with the sliders icon at its right end, and the tabs “Everything”, “Spot Loads” and “Lanes & Projects” above postings from Pied Piper Logistics, Hooli Freight and Bachmanity Brokerage.
Open Find Freight and choose Load board. The sliders icon next to the search bar changes your freight preferences.

When the matching postings run out, the board keeps going with wider sections. Expanded results: widens the match to your company's service areas and profile. All freight: comes last. It stays within the countries you serve but includes any trailer type and any border crossing.

The tabs Everything, Spot Loads and Lanes & Projects narrow the main results by kind of posting, but not the wider sections. To filter by hazmat, trailer, crossing and more, see how to filter the freight you see.

The four posting types

Every row starts with one of four types:

  • Load: one shipment, with its own pickup and delivery.
  • Lane: a project. You bid on a volume of shipments over a date range, for example 5 to 15 loads a week.
  • Potential Load and Potential Lane: the logistics company has not won this business yet. It posts to collect rates and capacity from carriers, then uses them to quote its customer.

Important: A Potential posting is not a guaranteed load. After you bid, the logistics company reviews your rate. If it selects your rate, it uses your bid to negotiate with its customer.

Two Load board rows: a “Potential Load” from Bachmanity Brokerage, Saltillo, COA to Quakertown, PA, above a “Load” from Pied Piper Logistics, Laredo, TX to Monterrey, NLE. Both cross at Laredo, TX - Intl Bridge.
The type label at the start of each row tells a Potential Load from a Load.

Reading a row

There are no column headers. On a computer, a row reads left to right:

  1. Type and company: the posting type, then the logistics company that posted it.
  2. Route: origin and destination. On a cross-border posting, the second line names the border crossing. On a domestic posting it is blank.
  3. Pickup and delivery, or volume: for a Load, the pickup and delivery appointments, which can be a date and time, a window, or First come, first served. For a Lane, the volume and the date range.
  4. Summary: trailer type, distance, live or drop at each end, weight and the product. Partials skip live or drop. Empty-trailer moves skip weight and product.
  5. Your activity: your chats and bids.
One cross-border Load row from Pied Piper Logistics: Monterrey, NLE to Chattanooga, TN via Laredo, TX - Intl Bridge, pickup Oct 06 08:00 CST, delivery Oct 08 14:00 EDT, and Dry Van (53ft), 1,270 mi, Live/Live, 42,500 lb, Auto parts. The activity area at the right is empty.
Read a row left to right. On a cross-border posting, the second line of the route names the border crossing.

Notes under the route

  • Truck and distance: a small truck with a distance range means the pickup is near one of your posted trucks. Point at it to see which truck: "~10 mi from Laredo". When you search an origin, the main results show a pin with the distance from the place you searched instead.
  • Red text: a note such as "2 additional pickups" means the posting has more than one stop. The row also gets a Multistop tag.

Yellow tags

Yellow tags flag special requirements before you open the posting, such as Hazmat, Overweight, Team driver, CTPAT carrier, CDL driver and 24/7 Customer Service.

Your activity on a posting

  • Chat with a red number: how many of your chats about that posting have unread messages.
  • Bid with your amount in gray: your bid is open and waiting on the logistics company. You also see this after a counteroffer is withdrawn or turned down.
  • Counter with an amount in yellow: the logistics company sent a counteroffer, and it is your turn. See how to answer a counteroffer.
  • Accepted with the amount in green: your rate was accepted.
  • Rejected with the amount in red: your bid was not taken. The X removes it from your active bids.

Click a row to open it. See what a posting tells you before you bid.
